Creation Idea and Purpose
Koi fish are the embodiment of good fortune and auspiciousness in Eastern culture, while the hazy full‑moon night symbolizes longing and yearning.
Gazing upon such scenes, I often recall the timeless verses of the great Chinese poet Su Shi. I created this artwork to express the longing of us overseas wanderers for our hometown and loved ones. Though we live far from home, we share the same bright moon and the same heartfelt longing across distant lands.
The Poem About The Painting :
In misty night, the moon hangs like a silver plate,
The pool reflects a sky of stars, where two carp play.
Their scales catch light, as if in heaven’s courts they swim,
I think of a poet, who once asked the moon with wine.
Far, far away, does someone share this same bright glow?
Softly the moonbeams fall, on us, both full and whole.

Starting with creative sketches, and using the flow ink rubbing way make the backgroud, I completed a 35‑inch oil painting. The artwork is then digitized and crafted into greeting cards and art‑style silk scarves. If you are interested, you may purchase these cultural‑creative products here.
